The Walker Art Center's annual film festival, Women with Vision, is often curated around a central theme. The 2006 series, Confronting Silence, revolved around women filmmakers and actors who had to overcome extreme adversity and oppression — either within the films’ narratives, or in the actual act of filmmaking — in order to have their voices heard. A subest series, dubbed Blacklisted, featured filmmakers and actors who were effected by the post-World War II communist witch hunt. The brochure — designed as a dossier on the filmmakers and their films — borrowed and updated the vernacular of official government documents.
