When the Walker Art Center reopened in 2005 a set of wayfinding maps were designed to assist visitors through the intriguing and sprawling new complex. The architects, in collaboration with the institution, conceived the expansion as a town-square — resulting in an experience that relies less on linear navigation, and more on the spirit of discovery. Isometric perspective was used to spatially illustrate the Walker Art Center's multifaceted new building and neighboring Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. The Walker map was later revised into a much simpler form, focusing on the core public spaces that connect the Art Center's two activity towers.
