Blu Dot is a mid-sized contemporary furniture design and manufacturing company based in Minneapolis, MN. In the fall of 2008 they opened their first retail store in New York.
folio: Blu Dot's principals, frustrated by their past furniture shopping experiences — in which they were often handed a cobbled-together array of fabric, metal, or wood samples along with hastily folded price sheets, all without a proper container — wanted to go the extra mile when they opened their own retail store. Designed for use at Blu Dot’s premier flagship store in SoHo, and intended for interested customers, this modest and compact material folio can house up to three powder coated steel samples, three wood samples or six fabric samples, product information sheets, and a business card.
card: Established in 1996, Blu Dot has since conducted a vast majority of its sales online. So, when they opened a physical location in 2008 it seemed natural to play up the analog aspect for the announcement — letterpressing a hefty blotter paper with line art renditions of their product.
