Riley and his story has been selected to be a part of the upcoming design exhibition Graphic Design: Now In Production, opening on October 22 at the Walker Art Center — and then traveling to the Cooper-Hewitt (and other venues) in 2012.
From the Walker's web site: "This major international exhibition explores how graphic design has broadened its reach dramatically over the past decade, expanding from a specialized profession to a widely deployed tool. With the rise of user-generated content and new creative software, along with innovations in publishing and distribution systems, people outside the field are mobilizing the techniques and processes of design to create and publish visual media. At the same time, designers are becoming producers: authors, publishers, instigators, and entrepreneurs employing their creative skills as makers of content and shapers of experiences."

The book I designed in collaboration with Monica Haller and Riley Sharbonno, Riley and his story, has been awarded a Certificate of Excellence in the 2009 AIGA 50 Books/50 Covers competition. The first printing has sold out, but a second edition is forthcoming from onestar press soon. In related news: we are starting work on redesigning and revamping the Riley website, which we hope to have live late-summer or early-fall.

Monica stopped by the studio yesterday with a full-blown production proof of our book, Riley and his story. It looks great, and I\'m excited for it to be out there in the world! Onestar press is publishing, and DAP is distributing — so it's all over the web now (even Amazon, although that's not the true cover and I'm not really an author). Book launch and related events to follow this Fall. Onward!

Two of my projects from 2008 have been selected as examples of outstanding design in the AIGA Annual Design Competitions: Superlight for 50 Books/50 Covers and the Blu Dot Catalog for AIGA 365 — in the Print Promotion category. A lot of thought, time, and effort went into both projects, so it feels pretty good to have them recognized. For those interested, Superlight can still be purchased through ZER01. But, unfortunately, that version of the Blu Dot Catalog is long gone (although a slightly adjusted version is out there now for the 2009–2010 season).

Finally. It's alive. Enjoy the new site!
